Get Her Style: Emma Watson

Emma

Who’d have thought wee Hermione would grow up to become a fashion icon?

She’s been scooped up by Chanel and Burberry and fashion editors and stylists can’t stop singing her praises. She’s always a hit on the red carpet, but we’re fans of her everyday style as she’s one of few people who can really pull off that ‘pretty tomboy’ look that we love.

So how does one emulate the little Brit? Well, that’s what we’re here to tell you.

  • One of the boys: Girls, you don’t need a boyfriend to shop in the men’s department. It’s the only thing to do if you want to get a decent plaid shirt or band tee. Emma is one to study if you want to make use of your boyfriend’s closet without looking like your boyfriend.
  • Supersize: Forget about finding the perfect fit and just opt for the large. Jumpers should big and comfy and extra points for combining them with a plaid shirt like Emma does in the picture below.
  • The Old Reliables: There are endless pictures of Ms Watson wearing dark skinny jeans and black ballet pumps. They’re comfortable and simple and they’re the items that help feminise the masculine pieces mentioned above. Topshop and A|wear are the best places to find decent jeans in a variety of sizes at a reasonable price on the high street.
  • Improvise: This ‘pretty tomboy’ look doesn’t mean you need to abandon your collection of dresses or skirts or stop wearing feminine patterns. Just add a blazer or leather jacket to bring the look together.

Featured clothes (clockwise from bottom right): Floral Skirt, €50 Oasis; Leather Jacket, €75; Sleeveless Shirt, €49 Miss Selfridge; Leather Bag, €50 Oasis; Plaid Shirt, €40 Topman; Skinny Jeans, €35 Awear; Slouch Jumper, €98 Topshop; Striped Tee, €20 Dorothy Perkins; Ballet Pumps,€33 Topshop.
